Wie zijn we?

De Koninklijke Muziekkapel Lokale Politie Antwerpen is sinds 1901 het huisorkest van de politie in Antwerpen.

Het is een harmonieorkest, ontstaan uit de "Politieverbroedering van Groot Antwerpen" die een jaar eerder gesticht was. Een politieverbroedering die een beetje een politievakbond "avant la lettre" was. Muziek spelen was een manier om op culturele wijze als groep naar buiten te komen zonder verdacht te worden van activiteiten die in die tijd strikt verboden waren.

Binnen- en buitenland

Naast binnenlandse optredens wordt de KMLPA regelmatig gevraagd door buitenlandse organisatoren. Bij deze optredens speelt de muziekkapel naast professionele orkesten van wereldniveau. Denemarken (taptoe Aabenraa), Italië, Hongarije, Groot-Brittannië, Frankrijk, Duitsland (Musikparade), Zwitserland (taptoe Basel) zijn maar enkele voorbeelden waar de KMLPA zich al van haar beste kant heeft getoond.
In het binnenland zijn de taptoe van Antwerpen en ons kerstconcert en lenteconcert jaarlijks terugkerende waarden.

Het orkest

De muziekkapel is een harmonieorkest wat wil zeggen dat zij bestaat uit koper- en houtinstrumenten alsook een percussiesectie. Het orkest heeft ook een tamboerkorps bestaande uit 10 tamboers.

Who are we?

Since 1901, the Royal Band of the Antwerp Police is the resident orchestra of the Antwerp police.

It is a wind Orchestra, arose from the "police brotherhood of Greater Antwerp" which was founded a year earlier. A police brotherhood which was a kind of a labor union. Music was a way to go public without being suspected of activities that were strictly forbidden at that time.

Home and abroad

In addition to domestic performances, the Antwerp Police Band is regularly asked by foreign organizers. On these performances the Band plays next to professional orchestras of world level. Denmark (e.g. Aabenraa tattoo), Hungary, Great Britain (e.g. Preston Guilds), Italy, France, Switzerland (e.g. Basel tattoo), Germany (e.g. Musikparade) are just a few examples.
In Belgium are the tattoo of Antwerp and our Christmas concert and Spring concert annually recurring values.

The Orchestra

the Royal Band of the Antwerp Police is a wind orchestra meaning that they consists of copper and wood instruments as well as a percussion section. The Orchestra also has a drum corps consisting out of 10 drummers.
